Games like Escape Academy
One published list of seven desktop alternatives, with prices as that list printed them. This is not a personal ranking, and the prices will move.

The seven, and how Escape Simulator differs
Escape Simulator is the closest room-for-room substitute: $19.99, 13 official rooms plus a large workshop, up to eight players. Escape Academy is the one with the campus story and the two-player cap. We Were Here Together is asymmetric co-op at $12.99. Portal 2 is the split-screen benchmark at $9.99. Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes is the party bomb manual at $14.99. The first We Were Here is free and short. It Takes Two is the narrative two-player game at $39.99 with a friend’s pass. The Witness is a solo island of panels at $39.99.
Couch co-op inside Escape Academy itself is the local split-screen mode, two players, one copy. If the search is really “couch co-op puzzle,” Portal 2 and Keep Talking are the other names on this list that fit a sofa. I am not adding games the list did not name.
